Each cat has its own character: some cats are more shy and others more affectionate, although it also depends on the breed. But which are the most sociable cat breeds?
Let’s start by dispelling a widespread stereotype that cats are cold animals and not very receptive to human contact. This is not the case at all: there are cats with a very affectionate behaviour, who love the company of humans and are particularly suited to living with children.
It depends a lot on each individual, but it has been proven that there are breeds of cats that are particularly sociable and affectionate: let’s discover them.
British Shorthair
It is a short-haired cat – as the name says – with a round head. The British Shorthair is easily attached to its owners and loves to share space with them, so much so that it tends to follow them around the house.
This behaviour, together with its calm and sedentary character, makes it a perfect companion cat, perfectly adapted to coexist with children and other animals.
Abyssinian
Among the most sociable cat breeds are also the Abyssinian, as active as the British Shorthair is sedentary.
Abyssinian cats are curious and lively, they love to explore and play, even with their human friends: with a cat of this breed you can try your hand at many different games, including fetch.
They quickly get used to living with people, even with children, and are fond of the whole family, but they tend to choose a favourite to which they are especially attached.
Persian
It is one of the oldest feline breeds, and also one of the most sociable.
The Persian cat has a good predisposition to coexist with humans and is distinguished not only by its long fur and flattened muzzle, but also by its affectionate nature.
The Persian cat, like the Abyssinian, is particularly fond of one person, but is capable of establishing a good bond with all members of the family.
They love cuddling and need attention, their temperament is gentle but they do not disdain to play if properly stimulated.
European
And finally, the most common and widespread breed, which we also find in the ranking of the most sociable cat breeds. The European cat (European Shorthair – Wikipedia ) is nothing more than the common tabby cat that can vary in colour and coat pattern.
It is cunning, lively and curious and very sociable and affectionate with its human family.
It is perfectly adapted to flat life, has an independent nature that allows it to spend many hours a day alone, but when in the company of its owners, it likes to show its affection with cuddles and games.
It gets on well with children and other pets, is quite calm but retains its predatory instinct which leads it to run and ambush around the house.
